William Drew Huckabee, affectionately known as Willie, graced this world on June 30, 1959, and peacefully departed on June 22, 2023 leaving behind a tapestry of cherished memories and a profound impact on the lives of those who knew him. His presence will be greatly missed, but his legacy of love, devotion, and unwavering support will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born on June 30, 1959, Willie was a proud native of Morris, Oklahoma. His educational journey took him through Union Elementary School and Twin Hills School, before graduating from Morris High School in 1977. Willie then went on to earn an Associates Degree from Northeastern A&M in Miami, Oklahoma.
Willie, a proud husband, father, and grandfather, found his greatest joy in his family. He was first married to Dawn Giulioli, and together they were blessed with two sons, Braxton and Brayden. Later, on April 15, 1989, he found love once more when he married Kristy Shoemake. From their union, they welcomed their cherished son, William “Will” Preston Huckabee.
Willie's entrepreneurial spirit flourished when he established Huckabee Feed & Supply, a beloved feed store in Morris, which he owned and operated for over 30 years. Through his expertise, genuine care, and unwavering dedication, he became an integral part of the community, providing essential services to farmers, ranchers, and pet owners alike. Huckabee Feed & Supply was a trusted source for supplies and advice, and it remains a lasting testament to Willie's commitment to serving others.
In 2007, Willie embarked on a new chapter of his life and joined AtWoods, where he served as the General Manager in McAlester, Oklahoma until his well-deserved retirement in 2018. His natural leadership abilities and passion for community service made a lasting impact on AtWoods and its customers.
Willie's life revolved around his loved ones. He took immense pride in his role as a husband, providing unwavering support and love to his wife Kristy. As a father, he was a constant pillar of strength and guidance to his sons. He held a special bond with his grandkids, attending their sporting events with pride and delight. One of his favorite pastimes was going fishing with his kids and grandkids, providing them with cherished moments of connection and laughter.
A man of diverse interests, Willie had a deep appreciation for history. He embraced his passion as a Civil War historian, actively participating in reenactments and portraying the battles fought during that pivotal time. His commitment and knowledge earned him the esteemed position of Brigadier General of the Trans Mississippi Brigade in the Civil War reenactment community.
Beyond his historical endeavors, Willie had the unique opportunity to share his love for the past through the silver screen. As an extra, he lent his presence to several movies, including "The Blue and the Grey," "The Patriot," "Ride with the Devil," and "The Lone Ranger." These experiences allowed him to immerse himself in different worlds and create treasured memories.
One of the greatest joys in Willie's life was listening to his son, Will, perform country music. He would eagerly support his son by assisting with setting up and taking down equipment for his gigs. Willie's beaming smile and unwavering encouragement were a testament to the pride he felt for his son's musical talents.
Willie leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kristy, his sons Braxton , wife Tiffany and Brayden, wife Jenni, and Will. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Marek, Maverick, Maddox, Kinsley, and Kase, who brought immeasurable joy to his life.
Willie also leaves behind his brothers, Michael, wife Patsy; Pat, wife Rhonda; and David "Pete" Huckabee, as well as his sisters Judy Killion, husband Norval; Sharon Roach, husband Kenny; and Cindy Costanza. His nieces, nephews, and extended family members will forever cherish the memories created with Willie.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Ilda Huckabee, his sister Donna Huckabee, and his grandparents William and Juanita Bunne, and Drew and Estell Huckabee.
Willie's warm heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering support touched the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be remembered for his love of family, his passion for history, and his ability to uplift and inspire those around him. May his spirit live on through the memories shared and the love he bestowed upon us all.
