Reverend Cecil Raymond "C.R." Franklin's Obituary
Reverend Franklin was born on October 31, 1913 to Fredrick and Mary Lillian (McClary) Franklin at his home East of Henryetta, Oklahoma. He went to his heavenly home on February 21, 2013 at Highland Park Manor Nursing Home in Okmulgee, Oklahoma at the age of 99.
He married Pearlene Roberts in 1940 in Boynton, Oklahoma. They were blessed with two sons: Raymond and Bob Franklin. Pearlene preceded him in death in 1984. In 1987 he married Lucille Lievsay at Morris, Oklahoma where they spent most of their married life.
He began his ministry as an evangelist in his 20’s. He pastored churches in Stonewall, Weleetka, Okmulgee, Texanna, Council Hill and Morris. He retired from the Morris Assembly of God in October of 2004. He preached his final service there at the age of 91.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; sisters, Wilma, Vestal and Mary; and brother Oral. He is survived by his wife, Lucy, of their home at Morris, Oklahoma; two sons, Raymond (LouElla) Franklin of Okmulgee, Oklahoma and Bob (Marilyn) Franklin of Okemah, Oklahoma. He is survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Bill Franklin of Bakersfield, California and sister, Edna Popejoy of Grove, Oklahoma.
Pallbeareres will be: Raymond, Jr., Ryan, and Tyler Franklin, John and Eric Seeman, and Dustin Traynor. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Morris Assembly of God Church.
A funeral service will be held at the Morris Assembly of God Church on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Steve Rose officiating. Interment will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Friends may view Reverend Franklin at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Okmulgee on Monday from 9:00 A.M.- 8:00 P.M.
