Norma Ruth Couch's Obituary
Norma Ruth Couch, loving wife, mother and nana, passed away Sunday evening, August 4, 2013at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 73 years of age. Norma was born October 9, 1939 in Okmulgee to the late Everett and Stella (Milligan) Lawson. She started school in Natura and later attended Rocky Hill School. She graduated from Nuyaka School in 1957. Norma married the love of her life, Jim Couch, on May 16, 1959 in Henryetta. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed the time she spent with them. Norma loved baking and her flower garden. She was a wonderful homemaker and was co-owner and operator of the family cattle business. She was a member of the Red Hat Club, Dripping Springs OHCE and the Nuyaka Baptist Church, where she served on numerous committees.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jim Couch, two sons, Darren Couch and wife Shawna and Dane Couch and wife Paige and four grandchildren, Bryce, Kaitlyn, Ashton and Tyler Couch, all of Okmulgee.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Nuyaka Baptist Church with Reverends Jarrod Kendall and Chad Eads officiating. Interment will follow in the Morse Cemetery(Okfuskee County). Casketbearers will be Jim Arnold, David Powers, Anthony Ivins, Gerald Toon, Larry Story and Steve Ennis. Honorary Casketbearers will be Hayden Ivins, Bill Holcomb, Bob Turner, Benny Aspy, Dickie Melton and Truman McCall. Friends may visit the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nuyaka Baptist Church Building Fund in Norma’s Memory. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
