Jane Nichols Brown's Obituary
Jane Nichols Brown left this world on Friday, August 3, 2018, in Tulsa, OK, after a hard battle with cancer. She had just had her 78th birthday in July.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 10, at Southside Baptist Church located at 16950 Loop 56 in Okmulgee, starting at 11-1:00 for visitation and 2:00 for the service. There will be no cemetery service. Funeral arrangements will be arranged by McClendon-Winters of Okmulgee.
She is survived by her three children, Gregory James Brown and his wife Kathie (Illinois), Paula Denise Brown, (Oklahoma City), and Stephanie Brown (Tulsa) and her husband Cory Cheney. She is also survived by her oldest sister, Peggy Chancey (Okmulgee), husband Don is deceased; her twin sister, Judy Forrest (Broken Arrow), husband Gene is deceased; and V.J. Nichols and his wife Joyce (Collinsville). She has three grandsons, Matthew, Stephen and Ben (Greg’s children), and Kaia (Stephanie and Cory’s daughter).
Jane was married for 26 years to James Gregory Brown (deceased), who was the son of Melvin and Margaret Brown of Okmulgee (Brown’s Shoes). She graduated from Preston High School and Northeastern College in Tahlequah. Jane grew up in Natura, OK, preceded in death by Helen and Otto Nichols.
Our beautiful Mom, Mama, Mommie, Mamasita and “Mother of Mine,” was a beloved teacher for 44 years, most of those years at Twin Hills School. She retired in 2007 and lived most of her retirement years in Morris, OK, then moved to Baptist Village in Okmulgee about one year ago. She loved her kids, grandkids, friends, and family and loved to color and journal, fish, basketball, shop QVC and Walmart. We have lots of memories of how much fun we had as kids with her, playing cards, board games and singing.
We lost a beautiful person this week, and her kids and everyone she knows will miss her so very much.
