Jan Ramsey's Obituary
Janis Patricia Ann Ramsey, longtime Okmulgee resident, passed away March 24, 2019 at her home in Okmulgee. She was 80 years of age. Jan was born January 28, 1939 in Sapulpa to the late Clarence Oliver and Mary Dove (Piper) Blankenship. She grew up in Sapulpa on the hill and attended Sapulpa Schools. She married the love of her life, Paul Ramsey, on April 17, 1975 in Sapulpa. This is when they merged their families, his kids, her kids and their kids. They began fostering kids and raised many children to adulthood. She was a co-pastor with her husband at Harvest Christian Center. She was loved by church members and considered “mom” to many. Jan loved garage sales, auctions, flipping houses along with live Christian music. She enjoyed Christmas with all the kids, grand kids and great grandkids. Her “sacks” will always be remembered with kindness, a smile and even a quizacal glance.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Scotty Golightly, grandchild, Justin Stark, great grandchild, Kaydence Golightly, sister, Wanda Piper and step son, Tony Ramsey. Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Paul Ramsey, of the home, children, Billie Golightly and husband Jim Dale of Ripley, Kim Golightly and husband Dale Chronister of Winchester, David Golightly of Okmulgee, Wayne Golightly and wife Cindi of Morris, Karma Sessions and husband Ricky of Boyd, Texas, Niki Brown and husband Joe of Okmulgee and Angie Joshua of Tulsa; Step children, Cheryl Medley and husband Danny of Fairland, Mike Ramsey of Okmulgee, Paula Larney and husband Richard of Wilson, and David Ramsey of Okmulgee along with many foster children; Siblings, Paul Howard Blankenship and wife Lavon of Madison, Tennessee, Betty Taylor of Beggs, Bonnie Stoklasa and husband Frank of Choctaw, Joan Wilson of Liberty Morris, Rick Blankenship and wife Marsha of Kiefer, Vicki Blazek of Okmulgee and Barbara Jones and husband Robert of Broken Arrow; Uncle Julius Piper of Antlers; Grandchildren; Juli Stark, James Stark, Joshua Waller, Ashley Erickson, Amber Waller, Autumn Ashley, Robyn Golightly, Randi Golightly, Dustin Golightly, Jamie Golightly, Greg Hurst, Brittany Arias, Ryan Reyes, Melanie McFarlin, Jerrydon Ramsey, Jason Ramsey, Nicole Persinger, Randell Sessions, Kyle Sessions, Brooke Sessions, Bradyn Brown, Brynlee Brown, Brittani Collins, Alysa Rivera, Tabitha Reyes, Hailey Reyes, Jacob Reyes, Ethan McFarlin, Michael Ramsey, Leah Ramsey, Job Ramsey, Rebecca Ramsey, John Baldridge and Leah Baldridge; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit the funeral home from 2:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. on Thursday and the family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 29, 2019 at the Harvest Christian Center. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Casket bearers will be grandsons.
