Glen Dale Harris' Obituary
Glen Dale Harris was born February 16, 1925 in Mason Oklahoma to Isaac (Dutch) and Carrie Harris. He attended several schools around the Okmulgee area. Glen joined the navy at 17 years old. After being honorably discharged he worked variously at the naval ordinance test station in Inyokern, California before hiring on at Douglas Aircraft where he retired in 1979.
He then moved to his farm near Beggs where he raised cattle, farmed, raised catfish, and grafted pecan trees. As a young man he earned his pilot’s license. Glen also boxed for the Okmulgee boxing team and ended with a record of 28 wins and 3 loses. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Glen married Dorothy Beesley on March 19, 1951. He provided for his family until he passed away on October 25, 2015
Glen is survived by his wife Dorothy Harris of Beggs, children Ted Beesley and wife Carolyn, Dale Harris and wife Glenda, Tracy Harris and Wife Carolyn, Dottie Smith and husband Ken, Scott Harris and wife Carrie, twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren with two more expected soon, brother Clifford Harris, sisters Eula Brown, Norma Ballenger, Louise Osborn and a host of other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Isaac and Carrie Harris, brothers John, Floyd and Avis, sisters Margie Willborn and Leon Adams.
All we who are left behind will miss him.
A funeral service for Glen will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Okmulgee. Interment will follow at Okmulgee Cemetery. Friends may visit the funeral home on Wednesday evening, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
