Ed Taylor's Obituary
Ed Jerry Taylor was born November 17, 1945 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to the late Lewis Edward and Frankie B. (Rigsby) Taylor and passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022 ,at his home. Ed graduated from Tahlequah High School in 1963 and joined the United States Army. He married Carolyn Schachle on December 14, 1968 in Okmulgee. They made their home in Tulsa for many years before moving to Beggs. Ed’s career with Oklahoma Natural Gas spanned several decades. He retired in 2001 as a Systems Analyst. Ed enjoyed coaching baseball, basketball, soccer, and football as well as playing softball for the company and church teams. He also enjoyed watching sports and was often referred to as Beggs #1 Fan. Ed was known for his woodworking talent. He watched western movies and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. Ed loved to travel with his family. He was a member of the ONGoers (ONG Retirees) and Crossroads Baptist Church.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Wiley Ray Taylor, his father and mother-in-law, John and Irene Schachle and a brother-in-law, David Schachle.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Carolyn Taylor, a daughter, Michelle Taylor Camacho, a son, Keith Taylor and wife Christy, a brother, Wayne Taylor and wife Karen, a sisters-in-law, Linda Schachle and Gail Taylor, grandchildren, Matthew Camacho, Lewis Camacho, Dailee Camacho, Rebecca Harding, Frankie Taylor and Klaire Taylor, great grandchildren, Addie, Gabby, Izzy and Taylor, nephews, Brent Taylor, Robert Taylor, Randy Taylor and Lance Schachle and nieces, Lisa Curtiss, Beth Taylor and Amber Brafford.
A Service to Celebrate Ed’s Life will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 4, 2022 at the Crossroads Baptist Church with Jered Jones and Reverend Brayden Buss officiating. Honorary bearers will be Matthew Camacho, Lewis Camacho, Dailee Camacho, Rebecca Harding, Frankie Taylor and Klaire Taylor.
Contributions in Ed’s memory can be made to “dailee.needs” , an organization established and created by Ed Taylor’s granddaughter in 2021. This movement is fueled to identify and meet the needs of others. After experiencing challenges and hardships in her own life, she decided to use her experiences to make a positive impact on others. During 2021, “dailee.needs” provided hygiene products for over 100 homeless citizens in the Tulsa area, 200 duffle bags filled with hygiene products for children in the Oklahoma foster care system, and paid 4 utility bills for single working parents. This has all been made possible through the generosity of others.
