Dale Stewart Rouk, 79, passed away January 1, 2017 in Burleson, Texas. He was born August 22, 1937 to the late Charles and Helen (Bebe) Rouk in Beggs, Oklahoma. Dale was the founding member of the Pan Handle Team Pinners Associati Read Obituary
WHAT A MAN….He loved horses and people. If he had to choose, he would have probably picked horses. However, everyone loved Dale. He had friends in the business from coast to coast and border to border. Dale probably watched more horses go through a sale ring than any body in America. I first met him while working the Ruidoso sale in the early 70's. Then we got to be great friends after I started working for Keeneland in 1979. Dale had already worked there for several years, as well as OBS in Florida. He was the lead Hoss as far as ring men went at those two sales, and most of the others he worked. And, he worked 'em all for many years.
We traveled many many miles together by highway and in the air. We never had a cross word. Dale was always upbeat and in a good mood. He never met a stranger.
Dale was like a brother to me. This old world needs more like him.

I was just 8 years old when I met Mr. Rouk. An avid horse lover, I had watched his horses in the pasture behind our house. I walked down to his stables one afternoon. He was working in his strawberry patch. I introduced myself and asked if I could visit his horses. Dale said yes and this began many years of trekking down to the stables. He was always so kind and willing to teach me about horses. Even through difficult teenage years. I was fascinated everytime he whistled and the horses came running for dinner. His knowledge of horses was endless and I soaked up every bit of it. Mr Rouk became a trusted friend. He was always patient, kind and stern when I needed it. I trusted his advise above all others in time when I needed it the most. I took my daughters to meet him many years later and got to thank him for all that he had done for me. I can never say enough about the unconditional acceptance that Mr Rouk gave me, just a neighborhood kid. I will forever miss him.
I first met Dale when he was writing for the Quarter Horse Journald in the late 1960. He was also bid spotting horse sales. Some time in early 1970 we hooked up working horse sales with the late Col. Tom Caldwell and spent some 40 years working sales, Pa,Ky,Fl,NY,Oh Ok,Cal. we both retired some years ago. Dale was one of the best, and a very good friend. Scott I only meet you once in Pa. when you brought your home made Salsa. I miss our travels and good times. May God Bless you and all of Dales family.
