Winnie Viola Holmes' Obituary
Winnie Viola (Rogers) Holmes, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at Highland Park Manor in Okmulgee. She was 77 years of age. Viola was born in Wetumka on January 21, 1941 to the late Leonard James and Lottie (Coker) Rogers. She grew up in Hoffman until moving to Morris at the age of 15 to help care for her aunt and uncle. She kept children for many years and in 1986 began working for DHS providing home care. Viola married Troy Holmes on June 16, 1990. She was a faithful member of the Morris Church of Christ where she remained active in the Ladies’ Class.
Preceding Viola in death were her parents, husband, a sister, Dorothy (Rogers) Cypert and a brother, Leonard Richard Rogers.
She is survived by her nephew, Daryl Cypert, friends, David and Sharlette Martin and family and her church family.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the Morris Church of Christ with Remington Afre officiating. She will be interred at the Morris Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Morris.
