William “Bill” Lee McAfee
On January 6, 2013, Bill passed from this life to join his Lord and Savior. Bill was born May 28, 1944 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Virginia (Burklin) and Walter McAfee. He attended school in Beggs, Oklahoma. At the age of 17, Bill enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He proudly served his country until a service related accident left him completely disabled in November 1962. Bill loved his country and being a Marine. He always said, “Once a Marine, always a Marine.” Bill carried this belief until his last breath. Despite being disabled, he never lost his sense of humor and was known to the staff and residents of Grace Living Center in Jenks and Highland Park Manor as “Wild Bill.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia and Walter, three sisters Iva Mae Misner, Jewel and Elizabeth, one brother Melvin and a niece Janet. Bill is survived by nieces Virgie and Leslie, nephews Joseph and Farrell and a host of other family and friends. He will be deeply missed.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the Okfuskee Cemetery. Viewing will be at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Okmulgee on Thursday morning from 10:00 – 12:00 P.M.
