Wanda Buckley's Obituary
Wanda Buckley 80, longtime resident of Beggs, Oklahoma died on August 29, 2009 after a brave battle with cancer. She was born on September 17, 1928 in Hominy, Oklahoma to Ralph and Clara (Windsor) Potts. She married Kenneth D. Buckley on May 25, 1946.
Mrs. Buckley will long be remembered as President of the Women’s Society of Christian Service, longtime Sunday School Teacher at the First Methodist Church in Beggs, where she was a member. Wanda was a Past Worthy Matron of Beggs Chapter of OES, Past Grand Adah of Grand Chapter of OES of Oklahoma being a member of the Eastern Star for over 60 years. She had been very active in supporting her family in Masonic activities. More recently she was a member of the Beggs Red Hats. Preceding her in death are her parents, a sister Betty Fisher and a brother Richard Potts.
Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years Kenneth D. Buckley of the home, a daughter Nita and husband Jim Cochran of Norman, Oklahoma two sons Derald L. and wife Carlene Buckley of Sapulpa, Alan D. and wife Cathy Buckley of Newbury Park, California, five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, two step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, 10:00 am at the First Methodist Church in Beggs. The Reverend Josheua E. Blanchard will officiate.
Visitation will be on Monday, 1 till 8 pm at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Beggs. The family will be available at the funeral home 4 till 6 pm on Monday.
