Wanda Ruth Brown's Obituary
Wanda Ruth Brown, 80, longtime Okmulgee resident, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Rebold Manor in Okmulgee. She was born May 25, 1934 in Morris to Guffrey and Bessie M. (Fish) Carlton. She married Melvin Glenn Brown in December 23, 1951 and worked for many years as a clerk at Sears and J.C. Penny. Wanda loved to cook and was a devoted Christian woman. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Okmulgee. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Kevin Brown, a brother, Guffrey Newell Carlton and a sister, Betty Cox. Survivors include her son, David Brown and wife Jill, of Okmulgee, a daughter-in-law, Cindy Brown of Morris, a brother, Dale Carlton and wife Araneta of Okmulgee, a sister, Carol Brock and husband Floyd of Moscow, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Raymond Doke officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Friends may visit the funeral home on Tuesday from 12-8 and on Wednesday until the funeral hour. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
