Viola A. Stanek's Obituary
Viola Alice Stanek, resident of Beggs, died Thursday, March 27, 2014 in Tulsa at the age of 92. She was born May 30, 1921 in Tama, Iowa to the late Edward and Barbara (Prusha) Suchanek. Viola taught school in various area one room school houses as a young woman. Later, she helped with the farm near Keystone, Iowa. She raised her family and spent most of her life in Iowa before moving to Oklahoma in 2007. Viola was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Belle Plaine, Iowa. She enjoyed growing African Violets, growing tomatoes and watching Soap Operas. Viola was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William Stanek, a daughter, Debbie Phillips, a brother, Edward Suchanek and a grandchild, Jezreel Rehberg. Survivors include her son, David Stanek, Sr. of Beggs, five grandchildren, David Stanek, Jr. and Chase Stanek, both of Beggs, Joshua McMurray of Meadville, Pennsylvania, Jami Hall (Stewart) of North Liberty, Iowa, and Jodi Rehberg of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a sister, Helen Sevcik of Clutier, Iowa, a brother, Paul Suchanek of Tama, Iowa and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate Viola’s life will be held at a later date in Iowa.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Prevent Blindness American Organization or Muscular Dystrophy Association.
