Sylvia Terry's Obituary
Sylvia Jean Terry died in Tulsa on June 20, 2014 at 82 years of age. Sylvia was born February 11, 1932 in Roosevelt, Oklahoma to Burl and Dorothy Pearl (Duke) Brewer. On August 11, 1951 she married Willie Monroe Terry in Hobart, Oklahoma. Together they enjoyed their flower gardens and all the work involved with them. Sylvia also enjoyed scrapbooking and studying the family genealogy. Sylvia was a member of the First Baptist Church in Okmulgee.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband on September 22, 2006. She was also preceded by her parents, a brother Neal Brewer and a son-in-law Randy Pierce. She is survived by her three children: son Steven Terry and wife Barbara of Austin, daughter Janice Pierce, and daughter Julie Brown and husband Dale of Wichita, seven grandchildren: Anna Terry, Brandon Pierce, Erik Pierce, Lane Pierce, Jason Gilliam, Sarah Essary and Nathan Gilliam, seven great grandchildren: Angel Pierce, Kolby Pierce, Zachary Snow, Emily Snow, Isabella Essary, Brooks Essary-Nehring and Elodie Gilliam, sister Eloise Curtis and husband Byrd, brother Noel Brewer and wife Ginny and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in Okmulgee with Dr. Dennis Taylor and Reverend Jerry Fielding officiating. Interment will follow at the Wilson Salt Creek Cemetery. Casketbearers are Brandon Pierce, Erik Pierce, Lane Pierce, Nathan Gilliam, Steve McCroskey and Dale Brown. An honorary casketbearer will be Jason Gilliam. Friends may view Sylvia at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home on Monday from 12:00 – 8:00 P.M. with the family present to greet guests from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family request memorial contributions be made to the Clarehouse, 7617 S. Mingo Rd. Tulsa, OK 74133. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home.
