Steven Matthew "Woodie" Woodfield's Obituary
Steven Matthew “Woody” Woodfield, a long time Okmulgee resident, died Monday, October 15, 2012. Steve was born September 21, 1959 to Robert and Betty Woodfield. Steve battled with cancer for many years but the Lord felt it was time to go home. Steve attended Okmulgee public schools and graduated with the Class of 1977 from Okmulgee High School. Steve worked for many years with the Muscogee Creek Nation food distribution, GSA and KATS transit. Steve was a member of the Honey Creek United Methodist Church. Steve married Emily Marcy Staples on February 15, 1980 and of this union had three daughters.
He was preceded in death recently by his father Robert Woodfield and grandson Bentley James Woodfield.
His survivors include his mother Betty L. (Sunny) Woodfield of Okmulgee, his brother Samuel Woodfield of Plano, Texas, Aunt Mary Sunny of Okmulgee, three daughters: Alissa Woodfield (Bryant) of Okmulgee, Amber Woodfield (Bruce) and Adrian Woodfield (Mike) of Cass Lake, Minnesota, six grandkids: Brenden, Brionna and Marissa Woodfield, Sky Lee Woodfield-Glass, Shylia Woodfield-Glass of Okmulgee and Summer Rae Woodfield of Cass Lake, Minnesota.
Steve was a true OU Sooner fan and he loved watching or attending football games. He also loved to spend time with his family but Steve’s greatest joy besides his daughters was his six grandkids. They are who he was most proud of and in return they cherish their Papa Steve! He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A wake service will be held Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 7:00 P.M. at the Honey Creek United Methodist Church and funeral services will be on Friday at 2:00 P.M. Interment will follow at the Okmulgee Cemetery. The family request memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
