Rosie Lee Berryhill's Obituary
Rosie Lee Berryhill, 71 of Okmulgee was born July 10, 1946 in Okmulgee to the late Edmond and Birtha Lee (Chalakee) Rabbit. Rosie peacefully passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018 with her family by her side.
Rosie grew up in Dewar(Morris) area where she attended school. She married the love of her life Leonard Berryhill. Rosie's legacy of love and devotion for her family will live on for generations.
Rosie was known as "The Queen" at the Creek Nation Food Distribution where she worked for over thirty years. She loved playing bingo with her sisters and spending time with her family. Her pride and joy were her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rosie was a kind hearted and caring spirit who did so much for others. She loved to laugh and was always smiling. Rosie was a faithful member of Tallahassee Indian Methodist Church.
Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Betty (Rabbit) Gourd, Summer Dawn Berryhill, Rosa Marie Walton, and grandson Andrew Berryhill. Those left to cherish her memories are her daughters Sherry Berryhill and husband Greg of Okmulgee, Penny Hicks and husband Leo of Okmulgee, Josephine Walton of Okmulgee, and Geneva Rabbit of Muskogee, three brothers Amos, Mac, and Gerald Rabbit, four sisters Edna Messer, Irene Washington, Lorene Rabbit, and Pat Bunner, thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends she loved dearly.
A funeral service for Rosie will be held 1:00P.M. Friday, March 2, 2018 Tallahassee Indian Methodist Church with Reverend Gary Dunn and Pastor Charles Enloe officiating. Interment will follow at the Tallahassee Indian Cemetery. Friends may visit the funeral home on Thursday, March 1 from 10:00a.m. until 4:00p.m. A wake service will be held 7:00 P.M. Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the Tallahassee Indian Methodist Church. Casketbearers will be Dallas Little, Michael Little, Kenneth Berryhill, Nicholas Berryhill, Anthony Gibson, Robert Washington Jr., Steven Rabbit, and Delbert Morton. Honorary casketbearers Greg Berryhill, Gerald Rabbit, Virgil Wayne Harry, Amos Rabbit, Mac Rabbit, and Levi Taylor.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
