Robert G. Dangott's Obituary
Robert G. Dangott was born the 2nd of 6 children on September 7, 1925 in Punxautawney, Pennsylvania to Lucien and Glean Dangott. He died Saturday, April 19, 2014 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 88.
Upon graduating from Dormont High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1944 Bob volunteered to serve his country, serving in the 4th Marine Division, which fought on Iwo Jima. While serving his country proudly Bob made 2 great friends, both of whom were killed on either side of him in battle. Bob was only 18 at the time of their deaths.
Bob married Alice Badger on April 16, 1955 at Okmulgee, Oklahoma. They had 2 daughters, Laura Joan Keane and the late Judith Ann Dangott. Bob was initially employed by Scott Paper Company, but landed his dream job as a salesman for Warner Chilcott Laboratories. During his years as a salesman and manager Bob was the winner of the coveted Bobst award for his effectiveness. When the company was merged into Parke Davis he retired after 22 years of service.
Bob was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Okmulgee and the Morris Lions Club. He served as a fund raiser for the Boy Scouts of America in the Morris area for many years.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Judith, brothers Don and Fred, and one sister Marge Thomas. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Alice; daughter Laura Joan Keane of Las Cruces, New Mexico; brother William L. Dangott of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; and sister Nancy Garver of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church of Okmulgee under the direction of McClendon-Winters Funeral Home.
