Paul Witt's Obituary
Paul Witt, longtime Okmulgee resident, passed away Sunday morning, June 1, 2014 at his home. He was 83 years of age. Paul was born February 12, 1931 in Combs, Arkansas to Oscar and Opal (Nelson) Witt. He served his country in the United States Air Force and after being discharged remained overseas and worked as a firefighter on the air strip. He married Mary Huskey on March 30, 1964 in Okmulgee. Paul enjoyed fishing and hunting. He retired from the Okmulgee Police Department in 1994 as Assistant Police Chief. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Aleen Grammer and a brother, Dwight Witt.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mary Witt, of the home, children, Paula Edmonds and husband Randy of Morris and Gary Witt and wife Pamela of Dewar, a brother, Wayne Witt and wife Nancy of Verdigris, grandchildren, Derek Edmonds and wife Trisha, Kaylee Edmonds, Colton Witt and Garrett Witt, step-grandchildren, Candace Newby, Josh Newby and Kiesha Metcalf and husband Richard, great grand daughter, Chloe Raelynn Edmonds, seven step great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Wendell Cox officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Grant Huskey, Keith Wood, Josh Newby, Steve Riddle, Richard Huskey and Todd Witt. Friends may visit the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. and the family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
