Pamela Jean Acton's Obituary
Pamela Jean "Pam" Acton was born in Okmulgee on January 2, 1932 to the late Frank and Velma (Betts) Coker. She passed away on Saturday morning, September 17, 2016 at her home in Okmulgee, surrounded by her loving family. Pam married James Kenneth Acton on January 23, 1952. She worked as an operator for Southwestern Bell until her retirement. Pam enjoyed going for walks, shopping, reading, and most of all cooking for and spending time with her family. Pam was a devoted member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Okmulgee.
Pam is preceded in death by her parents, husband James Kenneth Acton, son Kenny Acton, son Kurt Acton, uncle and aunt Colonel John and Geneva Hillman, cousin John Hillman, and grandmother Hattie Lasley.
Left to cherish Pam's memory are daughter Diana Peeler of Okmulgee, daughter Denise Stanley and husband Johnny of Okmulgee, daughter Jennifer Buchanan and husband Alan of Okmulgee, daughter Jacqualine White and fiancé Kevin Abrams of Schulter, daughter-in-law Jeanne Acton, cousin Heather Easley and husband John, cousin Stephanie Jameson and husband Trey. Grandchildren Jonathon, Jessica, Amy Sue, Nicole, Christopher, Kyle, Matthew, Josh, and Lucas, thirteen great-grandchildren, honorary son Ricky Streight, as well as her loving pets, Izzie and Cha Cha.
A Funeral Mass for Pam will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel with Father Joshua E. Litwack officiating. Interment will follow at Okmulgee Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher Clayton, Kyle Acton, Josh Byassee, Lucas Stanley, Brian Thomason, and Marshal King. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Streight, Matthew Clayton and Jonathon Stanley. Friends may visit the funeral home on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A Rosary will be held at the funeral home at 7:00 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
