Orville Frank Rissler's Obituary
Orville “Frank” Rissler, 84, longtime resident of Okmulgee, died in Tulsa on Sunday, April 29, 2012. He was born in Romney, Indiana to Frank Wilford and Mary Elizabeth (McDonner) Rissler on December 16, 1928. Frank married the love of his life Hazel Strickland in Jefferson, Indiana on September 4, 1948. They came to Okmulgee and he worked at OSU Okmulgee retiring as manager of vending in 1987. Frank was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Okmulgee serving as Sunday School Teacher and Deacon. He was well known for his magic shows, cooking and was a member and had served as President of the Okmulgee Lions Club for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife Hazel of the home, a daughter Kimberly and David Geer of Owasso, OK, four sons; David and Rosario of Bell, CA, Eddie and Linda of Branson, MO, Paul and Darla of Yukon, OK, Jonathan and Beverly of Tulsa, OK, four siblings, Sudie Mae Hills, Dorothy LaHue, James Rissler all of Clarksville, IN, and Mary Lou Hale of GA.
A Celebration of Frank’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Dennis Taylor and Rev. Jerry Fielder officiating. Burial will be in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday 12-8 pm with the family present 5-7 pm at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Franklin Rissler, Grant Rissler, William Geer, Tevin Rissler, Nathan Smith and Hugh Gaston. Honorary Pallbearers will be Curtis Franklin, Ron Pittman, James Brooks, Steve McCrosky, Bob Brewer and Ron Martin. The family requests memorials be made in Frank’s name to the First Baptist Church Kitchen Fund. Condolences may be made at mcclendon-winters.com.
