Nachete "Shae" Nelson's Obituary
When a child is born a race begins. It’s a race from the cradle to the grave and in between. Be it’s long and short comes each life. Each person must run their own course. So it was with Nachete’ Damone (Shae) Thomas Nelson began her race on April 12, 1971 to Marilyn Thomas and Chester Colbert Sr. On April 26, 1995 she married Christopher Lyn Nelson Sr. They were married 20 years and together they share two sons and two grandchildren.
Shae attended Beggs Public School until the 4th grade and then moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where she began in Tulsa Public School System and graduated in 1989 from Edison Preparatory High School. On to further her education at Northeastern in Miami, Oklahoma, she began her career at Kids World Child Development Center and then to Dollar Thrifty Car rentals as a Customer Care Representative for twenty plus years until her health began to fail.
Shae accepted Christ at an early age where she attended First Baptist Church South and was baptized under the late Rev. Lynch. She later moved her membership to Snowden Chapel under Tom Asberry Jr., then to Agape Bible fellowship under the leader of Pastor Terry Buxton until she was unable to attend.
She leaves to cherish her: her children, two wonderful young men, Quantae’ Jones and Christopher Nelson Jr., a special daughter Kyliah Williams, her mother Marilyn Thomas, step father Barney Checotah Jr., her siblings Adrian Checotah Jr. Lashonna Checotah, Michelle Colbert McCall, Chester Colbert Jr. Chas Tucker, Andrea Colbert, Dangelo Joseph, Trisha Joseph, Yantikia Joseph, Chemica Barnes, Brandie Barnes, her grandchildren Arihanna and Dasun, who were her pride and joy, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that will miss her deeply.
