Maxine G. "Pat" Norris' Obituary
Maxine “Pat” Norris went home to be with her Lord on Friday, February 20th at her home surrounded by her family in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, at the age of 84. She was born on September 18th, 1930, in Blocker, Oklahoma to Guy and Mattie Waldrop. On August 3rd, 1946, Pat married the love of her life, Virgil Norris, in Quinton, Oklahoma. They raised two children in the Okmulgee area. She and her husband owned several successful businesses, including Short Stop and Montgomery Ward Catalog Agency. For the last twenty-six years she owned and operated The General Store with her daughter. She attended Second Baptist Church in Okmulgee. Pat loved spending time outdoors tending a large garden with her son and keeping a beautiful yard. She took great joy in her wild birds and her feeders were never empty. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-six years, Virgil, her parents, and her brothers Vernon, Vester, Bill, and Bob. Those left to cherish her memories are her son Ronald Norris and wife Brenda of Okmulgee; daughter Jill Grant and husband Dale of Preston; granddaughter Melissa Brown and husband Shawn of Morris; grandson James Norris and wife Tonya of Okmulgee; granddaughter Danielle Neldon and husband Joshua of Okmulgee; great-grandchildren Ashley Brown, Chad Norris, Tyler Brown, and Alyssa Norris; and one great-great-granddaughter Avarie Brown, as well as her brother J.R. and wife Bonnie of McAlester; sisters Ruby Davenport and Ruth Virden of McAlester, and many other family and friends. Viewing will be at McClendon-Winters Funeral Home on Monday, February 23rd, from 2:00pm-8:00pm. The family will be present from 5:00pm-7:30pm. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 24th, at 2:00pm at Hoyt Cemetery in Hoyt, Oklahoma with Reverend DuWayne Colvin officiating. Casketbearers will be Ronald Norris, Josh Neldon, Shawn Brown, James Andrew Norris, Tyler Brown and Chad Norris.
