Marilyn Kay Sprouse's Obituary
Marilyn Kay Sprouse, longtime Okmulgee resident, was born July 11, 1939 to Kathryn (Carlisle) Holly and Ellis Holly in Corpus Christi, Texas. She passed away Saturday, April 11, 2026 in Tulsa. Marilyn graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1957 and spent one year at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. She returned to Okmulgee and went to work for Rural Electric Cooperative (REC) where she met Ralph Sprouse. They married in 1959 and were married 57 years at the time of Ralph's passing in 2016. They had two daughters, Carla Kay (Sprouse) Turley and Beth Ann Sprouse. Marilyn worked for many years as a secretary at Eastside Elementary, Dunbar and Okmulgee High School. She adored the students and was always kind and friendly with everyone. Marilyn retired after working a few years at the Okmulgee Ready Mix.
Marilyn had a great sense of humor and was a good storyteller. She will be greatly missed. She was a dedicated and faithful member of the First Christian Church in Morris. She adored her minister and dear friend, Tim Craighton.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, husband and two daughters.
She is survived by her sister, Patricia Groff, nephews, Brian Groff and wife Sarah, Kevin Groff and wife Tracy and Todd Groff and wife Dianne, brother-in-law, John Sprouse, sister-in-law, Gayla Anson and numerous extended family and dear friends.
Friends may visit the funeral home on Thursday, April 16, 2026 from 11:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M. The casket will remain closed.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 17, 2026 at the Okmulgee Cemetery with Pastor Tim Craighton officiating. Honorary casket bearers will be great nephews and nieces, Ethan Groff, Erick Sisson, Rocco Groff, Ellis Groff, Samantha Groff, and Zoe Groff.
Memorial contributions may be made to church the First Christian Church of Morris or The Okmulgee County Humane Society.
