Mabel Lou Anderson's Obituary
Mabel Lou Anderson, age 89, was born on November 19, 1931, to the late Thaddeus and Mildred (Carden) Evans in Heavener, Oklahoma. She passed away on October 13, 2021, at her home in Okmulgee. Mabel attended school in Poteau, Oklahoma and after graduation enrolled at Baylor University, where she was part of the Baylor Golden Wave Band and graduated with a degree in Music in 1954. She met Gordon and they married on April 13, 1957 at First Baptist Church in Tulsa. They resided in several states as they moved where Gordon’s career took them. During this time Mable worked at Southwestern Bell and then retired after 15 years at the Tulsa City County Library. Mabel and Gordon settled in Beggs where they lived for many years and were active members of First Baptist Church. They enjoyed traveling, especially through the National Parks.
Mabel is preceded in death by her parents Thaddeus and Mildred and a stepbrother Opie Evans. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Gordon Anderson, Sr., a son Gordon “Lynn” Anderson, Jr. and wife Teresa of Beggs, Oklahoma.
Funeral services for Mabel will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 18, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Beggs with Reverend Chris Gore and Reverend Berry Norwood officiating. Friends may visit the funeral home from 12:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M on Sunday, October 17, 2021. Pallbearers will be Gary Jackson, Frank Juddeman, Ralph Boyle, Dick Gaden, Kathryn Creason, and Kathy Guinn. Janice Grimmett will serve as an honorary pallbearer. Interment will follow at the Beggs Cemetery.
