Lydia D. Mitchell's Obituary
Lydia D. (Liley) Mitchell, longtime Beggs resident, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa at 70 years of age. She was born August 23, 1946 in Tulsa to the late William James “Jim” Liley and Willa Deene (Lofton) Liley. She graduated from McClain High School and in April, 1973, married Junior Mitchell. Lydia served on the Beggs School Board for 22 years and was a 4-H sponsor for many years. Sher enjoyed painting and flower gardening, and had owned a ceramics and pottery shop. Lydia was the family genealogist. She was known for her love of dogs and cats and was a Coke Cola memorabilia collector even though her drink of choice was Dr. Pepper.
Lydia was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Eddie Mitchell.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Junior Mitchell, of the home, son, Rick Mitchell and wife Heather, of Beggs, brother, James Liley of Tulsa, step-daughter, Shelly Burr and Zach Kouplen of Beggs, grandchildren, Kai and Chazlin Mitchell, Brittney and Emily Burr, Dalton and Summer Chesnut and Gentry Kouplen, nieces, Kristin Leach of Tulsa, nephew, Nicholas Liley of Tulsa, numerous great grandchildren and grand dogs, Gracie and Lilly.
The funeral service for Lydia will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the First Assembly of God Church in Beggs with Reverend Robert Yandell officiating. Interment will follow in the Beggs Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Bill Ross, J. Markes, Pat Trent, Derrick Markes, Mike Davis and Mike Mate.
Friends may visit the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M.
