Luisa Maria Magrini's Obituary
Our precious mother, Luisa Maria Mazzei Magrini, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 22, 2020. She passed peacefully in her sleep at the age of 95. Luisa was remarkably dedicated to her family, kids, grandkids and adoring husband of 66 years, Norman Magrini.
She was born September 10, 1925 in East Pike Run, PA, moving in 1927 with her parents, Joseph and Maria Mazzei and brothers, Luigi and Desio, to Italy. She graduated from Don Bosco Institute, Montecatini Terme with a teaching degree. While in school, she qualified for the Italian Olympic team in the broad jump.
In 1946, Luisa and her parents returned to America settling in Belle Vernon, PA where she caught the eye of her husband-to-be, Norman. They married on June 4, 1949 and moved to Okmulgee, OK in 1950. While Norman worked as a supervisor at American Window Glass, Luisa was a bookkeeper for several years at First National Bank and a devoted member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. They proudly raised four children, Marlene, Stephen, Joseph and Robert.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and Norman. She is survived by her adoring children: Dr. Marlene Magrini-Greyson and her husband, Dr. Richard Greyson of Edmond, OK; Stephen Magrini and wife, Cheryl; Joseph Magrini; and Robert Magrini and wife, Ellen, all of Oklahoma City. She will remain forever in the hearts of her eight grandchildren: Brent, Sarah, Nathan, David, Brian, Sophia, Maria Isabella and Mia.
Mom lived a life rich in experience and spoke with affection of her beloved nieces and nephews, and her many friends and neighbors in Italy, Belle Vernon and especially her longtime home of Okmulgee. Our mother was an amazing, strong, beautiful woman, who leaves behind a legacy of love and caring. She and our dad are with us forever.
Friends may visit the funeral home on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 from 1:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M.
A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Father Joshua E. Litwack officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Okmulgee, Oklahoma would be appreciated.
The Magrini family would love to visit and reminisce about Luisa, and look forward to doing so at a safer time in the near future.
