Linda Kay Chambers' Obituary
With sorrow and with joy, the family of Linda Kay Chambers announces her passing on October 25th, 2021 after a brief illness. Linda was one of the strongest, kindest, most-generous women to grace the earth, and our family was blessed to have her. We will miss her terribly, but take comfort in the knowledge that she has been reunited with her husband of almost fifty years, JD, and is in the arms of her savior Jesus Christ.
Linda Kay Horn was born in Bristow, Oklahoma on August 5th, 1947 to Helen Jennsonne Pettypool and Lois Lee Horn. She was educated in Beggs, Oklahoma and graduated from Beggs High School in 1965. She met the love of her life, Jerrel Dwain (JD) Chambers while still in high school and they married on October 14th, 1966. They were best friends and sweethearts for almost 50 years of marriage.
Linda and JD had two sons, Micheal Dean (1967) and Dustin DeWayne (1971) and her family was the greatest joy of her life. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother and we will never be able to fill the space left by her departure.
Linda began her career as a Bell telephone operator, then worked for Mounds Public Schools for over 40 years as an aide, librarian, and secretary. After working for Mounds PS, she worked several years for Kiefer Public Schools. Most recently, she worked for ADPC, a software management system for schools. She always gave 100% to her work and was grateful for the many friendships over the years, particularly the Campbell family, Janet English, and Angie French. Linda was a member of First Baptist Church of
Mounds.
Linda delighted in staying busy! She was a dedicated supporter of her children’s and grandchildren’s events and activities. Over the last fifty years, Linda was also a dedicated scorekeeper for Mounds High School basketball. A life-long learner and committed crafter, Linda mastered cross stitching, cake decorating, ceramics, painting, and stained glass. She took great pleasure in decorating her home both inside and out for various holidays. Linda loved cardinals, all things Pioneer Woman -- and she never
forgot to send a card for a loved ones’ birthday.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers Johnny Lee Horn and Jerry Don Horn, and her sister Mary Sue Martin. She is survived by her brothers Tony Michael Horn (Fawn) & Dale DeWayne Horn (Nina), her sisters Shirley Mudget (Brad) and Sandra Rice (Mike), and her brother-in-law, Bob Martin (Mary), and sister-in-law Shirley (Johnny). Linda is also survived by her sons Micheal Dean Chambers (Sarah) of Cedar Hills, Utah and Dustin DeWayne Chambers (Stacey) of
Van Buren, Arkansas. She is survived by seven grandchildren: Kaylee Nicole Boysen, Tatum Justine Christner, Rylee Sky Chambers, Ariana Grace Chambers, Davis Matthew Chambers, Catherine Miriam Boulter, and Laura Caroline Case. Linda was blessed with seven great-grandchildren. Linda was also very close to JD’s siblings: Max and Joy Chambers, Nadine and George Tatyrek, Leona and David Harrison, Naomi and the late Jim Smeltser, the late Richard Chambers and surviving wife Erica, the late
Norma Jean and Clifford Patrick, as well as her many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Thursday, October 28th from 4-7 pm at McClendon-Winters Funeral Home, 205 West Main Street, Beggs, OK. Funeral services will be Friday, October 29th at 2:00 pm at Crossroads Baptist Church, 6962 Happy Camp Road, Beggs, OK.
