Lester Leon McCormack's Obituary
Lester Leon McCormack, longtime Okmulgee County resident, died Monday, August 11, 2014 at the age of 81. Les was born June 25, 1933 in Neodesha, Kansas to the late Lester Leo and Mable (Hines) McCormack. He served his country for 10 years in the United States Air Force. Les retired from Ajax Die-casting where he was a supervisor. He married Mable Jane (Hamilton) McCormack on September 2, 1974 in Okmulgee. Les was a member of the Okmulgee County Reserve Officers Association for over 20 years and had served as president. His passion was flying and farming, and he enjoyed fishing and hunting, but most of all loved being with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son Jeff McCormack, a step-daughter Nancy Ann Ledford, great grandson Thomas Dunn and a sister, Barbara Hughes. He is survived by three children, Raeleen Nelson and husband Joe of Michigan, Gregory McCormack and wife Sherry of Kentucky and Keith McCormack and wife Patty of Oklahoma City, two step-children, John Boyce and wife Mary of Tulsa and Janet Chilsom also of Tulsa, four sisters, Ruby McCormack of Keller, Texas, Carol Letcher of Alaska, Nancy Schultz of Neodesha, Kansas and Rebecca Scott of Diamond, Arkansas, eleven grandchildren and ten step-grandchildren, four great grandchildren and twenty-one step-great grandchildren, an aunt Betty Kidd of Sapulpa and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at the Church of God of Prophecy in Beggs with Pastor Randy Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at the Okmulgee Cemetery. Casket bearers are Johnny Boyce, Kyle McCormack, Brandan Welsh, Cody Ballard, George Milles and Thomas Holdaway. Steve Thoendel will serve as an honorary casket bearer. Friends may see Les at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Beggs on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 from 2 – 8 P.M. with the family present to greet guests from 6-8 P.M.
