Lenzy Joe DeArmon's Obituary
Lenzy Joe DeArmon, resident of Morris, died August 15, 2013, at 86 years, 11 months and 3 days. Joe was born September 12, 1926 in Keota, Oklahoma to Everett and Melvina Elizabeth (Bradshaw) DeArmon. Joe served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in Okinawa, Japan and was honorably discharged.
He married Mary Ellen Adair on September 18, 1948, in Vallejo, CA. After they were married, they moved back to Tulsa, OK to start a family.
Joe retired from the United States Post Office after 31 years of service and retired early with 11 months of sick leave.
Joe enjoyed working with young people and for many years worked with the Boy Scouts of America and the Tulsa Auxiliary Police to help the community.
Joe and Mary enjoyed square dancing and Joe later became a square dance caller. He and Mary were founding members of the Circle 8 Square Dance Club of Tulsa.
After moving to Morris, Joe continued to call for T-Town Teens. He also called for clubs in Tulsa, Beggs, Okmulgee, Henretta and Muskogee. They enjoyed square dancing so much was because it was an family affair.
Joe was Worshipful Master with the Masons for over 50 years and served with the Morris Lions Club also.
In Morris, Joe was active in the community and also built their home, Faith Ranch, while working full time in Tulsa.
Joe volunteered his time both at Physcially Limited and Hissom Memorial in Tulsa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary, on July 13, 2012, brothers: Manual, Chuck, E.J. and sister Linda.
He is survived by two children: daughter Diana Blackwell of Morris and son Tim DeArmon (Cheryl) of Morris, grandchildren: Alicia Robertson (John) of Owasso, Frank Knight (Beth) of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Kristal DeArmon of Morris, Heather Brown of Okmulgee, Vince Brown of Oklahoma City, Maria Bullard of Morris, "Buckshot" Tim DeArmon (Devin) of Tulsa, Shalena Smith Head (Justin) of Liberty Mounds, Joshua Bullard of Morris, Hunter DeArmon of Okmulgee, great grandchildren: Jackson Knight, Whitlee Knight, Jordan DeArmon, Jadan DeArmon, Tre’ Brown, Fisher Head, Kynzie, Lynzie Jo and Maximus Brown, two sisters: Delora Faye Cantrell and Beverly Sue Bass and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 19, 2013, at 2:00 P.M. at the Morris Assembly of God Church with Reverend Darrin Ballard officiating. Interment will follow at the Morris Cemetery. Friends may see Joe at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Morris on Sunday from 1-6 P.M.
