Kevin Mark Brown's Obituary
Kevin Mark Brown, a resident of Morris, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, May 17, 2011 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He was born on August 2, 1959 in Okmulgee to Wanda and the late Glenn Brown. On May 23, 1985 he married Cindy Thomas in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Kevin truly loved life and believed in God and staying active. As a teenager he went to work for the Okmulgee Cemetery later going on to work at Kelco until retiring in the spring of 2004 due to medical reasons. His love for life expressed itself in doing the things that brought him joy, such as playing softball with lifelong friends when he was able, raising cattle, hunting, fishing, traveling and recently going to NASCAR races. His true act of kindness and generosity was shown in helping raise four children that were not his own.
Survivors include wife Cindy of the home in Morris, mother Wanda Brown and brother David and wife Jill all of Okmulgee, children: Albert Thomas of Okmulgee, Ryan McElhannon of the home in Morris, Crista and Brenden McElhannon of Morris, his beloved companions, all his dogs and a large host of relatives and friends.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father Glenn Brown in 2002.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church of Morris with Reverends Kenny Rice, Ray Moffeit and Raymond Doke officiating. Interment will follow at the Okmulgee Cemetery. Casket bearers are Ronald Walters, Rick Wolfe, Steve Brown, Herb Brannom, Carl King, Bill Durant, Phil Booker, and Dean Williams. Honorary casket bearers are Albert Thomas, Ryan McElhannon, Brenden McElhannon, Quintin Allen, Richard Walters, Perry Booker and Coach Dan Morgan. Friends may view Kevin at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Okmulgee on Friday from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., with the family present to greet guests from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.. The family suggest memorial donations be made to the Okmulgee Humane Society or the American Diabetes Association.
