Julia L. Richel's Obituary
Julia passed into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 72 years of age. Julia was born April 11, 1940 in rural Okmulgee County to John Baptiste and Ida (Thierry) Rideau. On August 1, 1959 she married James Richel at the Uganda Martyrs Catholic Church in Okmulgee. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking, baking, gardening and working on her home farm. She was a longtime member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grayson, Oklahoma until it closed in 1986. She then started attending St. Anthony-Uganda Martyrs Catholic Church. Julia belonged to the Alfaretta R. Aubry Court No. 55 of the Knights of St. Peter Claver since joining in April of 1968 through the Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Fourth Degree Ladies of Grace Division.
Julia was preceded in death by her husband on January 25, 2008 and also her parents, John and Ida and brothers: James C. Rideau, Hubert A. Rideau, Sr., and Frederick Rideau, and sisters: Cecilia Herron, Florence M. Johnson, Frances Irving, Teresa Graham, Veronica Rideau and Carrie Rideau. She is survived by four children: daughter Geraldine DeRousselle and husband Martin of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, daughter Mary Stevens and husband Jeffery of Plano, Texas, son James Richel, Jr. of Morris, Oklahoma, and son Marcus Richel and wife Lisa of Chouteau, Oklahoma, seven grandchildren: Sidney DeRousselle, Ava DeRousselle, Jesse Richel, Taylor Richel, Drew Richel, Bailey Richel, and Levi Richel and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 11, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Uganda Martyrs Catholic Church with Celebrant Reverend Khiet Nguyen. Pallbearers are James Richel, Jr., Jesse Richel, Martin DeRousselle, Sidney DeRousselle, Jeffery Stevens and Marcus Richel. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Jones, Clifford Jones and Lambert Johnson. Interment will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Grayson, Oklahoma. A Rosary will be held on Thursday at 7:00 P.M. at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Okmulgee. Viewing will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M.
