James E. Shannon's Obituary
James E. Shannon, known to most as Jim, passed away at the age of 75 on November 12, 2022, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born to James and Irene (Emmons) Shannon in Alameda, California on June 8, 1947. James graduated from Hominy High School then enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served just shy of six years. James earned several medals during his military career. James then went to work for the United States Postal Service as an electronic technician in California and later relocated to Oklahoma. James met Anna while working at the post office and they later married in May of 1987.
James was a master at all things technical, especially computers. He had a vast knowledge of guns. James was a man of deep faith who liked reading Christian books studying the word. He was a member at Mounds First Baptist Church. He taught the fifth and sixth grade Boys Sunday School class for many years and volunteered to help in numerous capacities.
James is preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Kurtis Paul.
He is survived by his wife Anna of 35 years, children Jamie and Brian Stringfellow, Jeremy and Kathleen Shannon, Julie Brann, Tricia and John Hobson, Richard Edwards, and grandchildren Tyler, Cale, Corbin, Ford, Taylor, Max, and Fox.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Mounds First Baptist Church. Committal services will by 2:30 PM Monday, November 21, 2022, at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
