James Ralph Conner's Obituary
James Ralph Conner was born July 7, 1930 in Okmulgee to the late Jim and Lois (Beard) Conner. He passed away at his home on Valentine’s Day February 14, 2015 at the age of 84. James better known as Ralph attended school at Liberty Morris until he decided to serve his country. He enlisted in 1945 and was in WWII for 4months before being sent home due to his age. He reenlisted and served from 1947-1950, honorably discharged in 1950 from the United States Air Force then he became a member of the Teamsters Union and obtained his pilot license. He retired from the Operate Engineers (Local 627) Tulsa, Ok. He then owned and operated Conner Mower Repair for well over 20 years. In his spare time he loved flying, going fishing with his only son Dale & hunting with his longtime friend Bill Proctor. He remains a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1189. Ralph told it like it was as everyone would say & he loved and appreciated all his family and friends as well.
James was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jack, Joe, Bobby and sister Betty.
Survivors include long life partner Faye Conner, son Dale Conner, sisters Ruby & Judy Conner , granddaughters Megan Conner & Mary Hernandez, great grandchildren Eliana, Malachi, Jessi James, Chad “Charlie” and CyMiyah, special nephew Ronnie Wesley Spears and girlfriend Pam, and a well-loved dog named baby girl, all of Okmulgee A host of beloved nieces and nephews and extended family.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the Jubilee Christian Center with Reverend Dale Litsey Officiating & Speaker Steven Kahbeah. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Bill Proctor, Tommy Winn, Eddy Rice, Rod Anderson, Tom Whitman and John Bowen. Honorary casket bearers will be Bo Jordan and JC Dixon. A viewing will be held on Friday February 20, 2015 from 12pm to 8pm at McClendon-Winters Funeral Home.
The family will offer a gathering at noon on Saturday February 21, 2015 at the VFW located at 1427 North Okmulgee Ave, Okmulgee, Ok. We would like to encourage any friends or relatives to come out and attend the gathering before the service.
