James Alex Brooks' Obituary
James Alex Brooks, 83 passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was born to the late Steve and Minnie Hyson (Collins) Brooks on August 10, 1934 in Okmulgee. Jim was the youngest of four children. He retired from the military after he was an Army Intelligence Officer for 23 years. Jim was a simple man that took pleasure in American Liberty and proved his strong faith in God through his kind and gentle soul. He always was willing to help others. Jim loved to read, and more times than not he would be reading his bible.
James is preceded in death by his parents, son Nole Noble, siblings John Brooks, Hazel Choate, and Claude Brooks, and brother-in-law Gordon Choate. Survivors include his wife of 17 years LouVeney Brooks, son Gary Noble, grandchildren Laci Sewell and Rick Pingleton, Alyssa Duvall and husband Andy, Tristan Noble, Samyi Kuykendall and husband Cory, Maggie Zachary and husband Cody, Shambri Sewell, and Eva Noble, great grandchildren Andi Duvall, Aubrey Bailey, Shyann Cathy, Bobby Zachary, Vincent and Isabella, niece Susan and Sharon, nephews Trent and Stan Brooks, great nieces Sarah and Aubrella, and special friend Linda Kacey.
Funeral services for Jim will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 30, 2018 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ray Moffeit officiating. Interment will follow at the Okmulgee Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Andy Duvall, Rick Pingleton, Mike Ramsey, Brady Bailey and Cody Zachary. Friends may visit the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with family present from 5-7 for visitation.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
