Gwen Shandy's Obituary

Gwen Shandy passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at the age of 82.
She was born on April 9, 1938 in Atwood, Oklahoma to the late Benjamin Franklin Chaffin and Buenia Victoria Leigh Chaffin.
Gwen married Bob Shandy on October 5, 1956. They were married for 54 years before Bob’s passing in 2010.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Okmulgee where she taught children’s Sunday School for many years.
Gwen was a very familiar face to many in Okmulgee. She served as the business manager of the Okmulgee Daily Times for more than 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob and two sons, David Shandy and Jimmy Shandy.
Gwen is survived by her sister, Mary Allred and husband Jim of Allen, Oklahoma, her son Don Shandy and wife Robyn of Edmond, Oklahoma, eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Arrangements have been entrusted to McClendon-Winters Funeral Home. Friends may visit the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.
A private family service will take place at the Atwood Cemetery in Atwood, Oklahoma.
