Gene Harris' Obituary
Hansel Gene Harris was born September 30, 1941, in Gillham, Arkansas to the late Arnold Everett and Wilma Alice (Pullen) Harris. He passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones.
Gene married Shirley Ann Wells on February 5, 1961, in Beggs, Oklahoma. He served in the United States Airforce from April 11, 1960, until being honorably discharged on April 10, 1964. He then began a thirty-year career at McDonnell Douglas in Tulsa as an aircraft mechanic. Gene was a faithful member of True Life Tabernacle in Bixby. He loved being in the hay field with his buddy Jim or traveling with Shirley.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother, Jim Harris and two sons, Vernon Eugene Harris and Vincent Edward Harris.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Harris, daughter, Nikki Vandever and husband Brian, daughter-in-law, Brenda Harris-Bittle, granddaughters, Pashey Willhite and husband Jamie, Jaden Barthelme, Annamarie Barthelme, great granddaughters, Payton Willhite and Brooklyn Willhite, two brothers, Richard Harris and wife Linda and Larry Harris, sister, Patricia Brusso and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. on Monday evening, September 26, 2022, at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at the True Life Tabernacle with Reverend Rodney Stacy officiating. Interment will follow in the Duck Creek Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Brian Vandever, Jamie Willhite, Kevin Harris, Tim Harris, Randy Mallonee, Bobby Wells, David Harris and Terry Wells.
