Eleanor M. Brannon's Obituary
Eleanor M. Brannon was born to Edward Stewart and Susie (Wolverton) Stewart on November 23, 1918 in Lawton, Oklahoma. She passed away on December 21, 2014 at the age of 96. On November 26, 1939 she married Martin Brown, who died in a farming accident in 1946. Eleanor married her late husband Orville P. Brannon on February 26, 1949. He passed away on January 4, 1969. She was a long time resident of Kiowa county but moved to Okmulgee eight years ago so she could be close to her family.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Snyder for 50 years, a member of the United Methodist Women, and the American Legion Aux. Eleanor loved sewing, reading, and doing crossword puzzles and was an avid bridge player.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents, first husband Martin Brown and second husband Orville Brannon, a sister Edith Kmon, and brother Melvin Hoagland. She is survived by her daughter Linda and husband Mike Avant of Okmulgee, granddaughters Christi and husband Russell Fields of Richardson, Texas, Chelle and husband Brian Chambers of Ponca City, grandsons Barry and wife Amber Parker of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, Steven Avant of Checotah, great grandsons Mason, Carson, and Kade Fields, Camden Parker, great granddaughter Britten Parker, sister-in-law Wilma Hoagland of Wichita Falls, Texas.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00P.M. Friday, December 26, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Okmulgee with Reverend Brian Matthews officiating. Interment will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 29, 2014 at the Hobart Rose Lawn Cemetery in Hobart, Oklahoma. A memorial contribution can be made to the First United Methodist Church in Okmulgee.
