Eldon David Burcham's Obituary
Eldon David Burcham, 95, passed from this life on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at his Beggs home. He was born July 2, 1917 in rural Morris to the late David I. and Ida May (Arthurs) Burcham. He was raised in Beggs and graduated from Beggs High School. He married Clara L. Vernon on December 24, 1936 in Beggs. Eldon spent his life serving as an Assembly of God Minister and was an Aircraft Engineer. He worked for Boeing Aircraft and engineered the doors and staircase on the original 747 jumbo jet. He joined the U.S. Army during World War II. Eldon and Clara lived in Arizona and California for many years. Eldon formed the Manufacturing Engineers Society of American while working in California. Eldon also taught engineering at OSU-Tech and in his earlier years was the first paid fireman in Beggs. Eldon and Clara enjoyed traveling and the time they spent with their family.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Glenn, Johnny and Floyd and three sisters, Ella, Gladys and Verona. Survivors include his wife of 76 years, Clara, of the home, two daughters, Adonna Roland of Tulsa and Wendy Moore of Beggs, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Eldon will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs with Reverend Wayne Brashears officiating. Interment will follow in the Beggs Cemetery. Friends may visit the funeral home on Monday from 1-8 PM and the family will receive friends from 5-7 PM at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.
