Eileen Weatherford Lawson's Obituary
Eileen Weatherford Lawson, lifelong Morris resident, passed away Tuesday morning, February 16, 2016 at Highland Park Manor in Okmulgee. She was 76 years of age. Eileen was born July 25, 1939 in Morris to the late Earnest Porter and Sylvia LaRhea (Vaughan) Weatherford. She graduated Valedictorian of Morris High School Class of 1957 and attended OSU Tech and Bible College. Eileen married Jack Lawson on June 27, 1965 at the United Pentecostal Church in Morris. She worked for many years at Southwestern Bell Telephone, First National Bank and Citizens Bank before staying at home to raise her daughters. Eileen later returned to work as a secretary at Creek Nation Housing Division. She worked many elections for the Okmulgee County Election Board and was a lifelong United Pentecostal Church member in Morris and later at Henryetta. In the earlier years of her life, Eileen enjoyed bowling and more recently working crossword puzzles and listening to Gospel Music. She will be remembered as a very talented pianist. Eileen's greatest joy was supporting her children and grandchildren at their activities and sporting events, and was always willing to help them with their homework, especially English. She was preceded in death by her parents and a great grandson, Dylan Jack Alvarez. Survivors include her husband, Jack Lawson, her three girls, Tami Alvarez and husband Benjamin, Lisa Gilroy and husband Jody and Alicia Alvarez, all of Morris, grandchildren, Natalie Alvarez, Amye Alvarez, Angela Koch and husband James, Felipe Alvarez and Kristin Gilroy and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous cousins and their families.
Friends may visit the funeral home on Sunday from 12:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. The family will be present to receive friends from 4:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M.
A funeral service for Eileen will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday, February 22, 2016 at the United Pentecostal Church of Morris with Reverend Jimmy Shoemake officiating, assisted by Reverend Josh Bauer. Interment will follow at the Morris Cemetery.
