Doris Evelyn Jones' Obituary
Doris Evelyn Campbell Jones was born April 14, 1930 in Okmulgee to the late Carl and Ida (Calhoun) Campbell. She went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital at 10:58 a.m.
Doris married Albert (Junior) Jones on July 14, 1945. She worked for many years at Newberry’s and later as a department manager at Montgomery-Ward. She also kept the books for the family business, Jones Wheel and Front End Alignment and their rental properties. Doris loved to cook for her family and the church family at the First Assembly of God Church in Okmulgee, where she was a faithful member. In years past she taught Sunday School and Children’s Church and loved to make pies and help with funeral dinners. Her Pastors were Raymond and Carolyn Doke.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 62 years, Junior Jones, brother and sister-in-law, Dub and Mary Campbell and a sister, Mary Jo. Survivors include her children, Rex Jones and wife Lori, George Jones and Linda Mason Bond, granddaughters, Kelli Sue Jones, Natalie Jones and Jaylen Mayfield, Jenna Jones, Ashley Jones and Deshawn Felton, and Chelsea Jones and Chris Mayes, great grandchildren, Jayce Mayfield, Alexis McCall, Ryah Jordon, Kenzleigh Jones, Jakayla Felton and Shaniece Felton, her niece. Mary Katherine Heiserman and nephew, Dale Campbell.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 3, 2015 at the First Assembly of God Church. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Calvin Baldridge, Billy Kessee, Harold Glenn, Mike Rider, Chris Mayes and Aaron Ware. Friends may visit the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Doris’s name to the First Assembly of God Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
