Donald Joe Lesley's Obituary
Donald “Joe” Lesley 74 longtime resident of Okmulgee died after a short illness in Tulsa, OK on Monday, March 18, 2013. He was born in Nuyaka, Oklahoma on August 22, 1938. Joe graduated from high school and then received his Bachelor’s degree from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. One of Joe’s loves was to work in the Education field. He was Director of EPIC, and at Green Country Technical Center he served as Director of Adult Education, Business Industry. Joe’s fun time included quail hunting, fishing, and famous for his cooking with his smoker. His serious side was his involvement with the Gideon Association; served his church as Sunday School Director at Trinity Baptist Church. Joe will be remembered for several things, including his voice that could fill a room. His parents two brothers Bob and Jim Lesley, three sisters Ruth Thomas, Blanche Collins and Betty Lesley preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife Susan Lynn Terrell Lesley of the home, a daughter Renae Lesley and Mark of Dallas, TX, son Daren Lesley and wife Angela of Dallas, TX. Son Danny Lesley of Okmulgee, grandchildren Madyson, Carson, Tyler, Grayson, Jaden and Ashton. Two special people in his life Rachael Morgan and Leah Casselman, other relatives and many friends also survive Joe.
Funeral service for Joe will be on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the Trinity Baptist Church in Morris, OK. Revs David Hamilton, Rev. Richard Kerr, and Rev. Carter Tucker will be officiating. Viewing will be on Friday, 1 pm until 8 pm at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Okmulgee. The family will be available at the funeral home on Friday 5 pm until 7 pm. His family suggests contributions be made to The Gideon’s, and Agape Pregnancy Center of Okmulgee. Pall Bearers are Orland Aldridge, Henry Evans, Mike Martin, John Lesley, Russell Witham, Roy Thomas. Honorary Pall Bearers are Mac McChesney, Ferrell Roles, Dan Sullivant, David Dixon, Max Shoemake, and Dan Boydston. Condolences may be made at mcclendon-winters.com.
