Delores LaVonne Peterson's Obituary
Delores LaVonne Peterson, longtime Okmulgee resident, died in Tulsa on May 7, 2014 at 88 years of age. LaVonne was born in Okmulgee on August 14, 1925 to Earl Prescott and Leva (Phillips) VanDolsen. She was a graduate of Okmulgee High School, Class of 1943. LaVonne worked as a secretary at the George Nigh Rehab Center until her retirement in 1993. She attended the Crosstown Pentecostal Holiness Church.
LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents and a brother C.W. VanDolsen. She is survived by her two daughters: Susie Ward of Okmulgee and Kay Grogan and husband Rashie of Okmulgee, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one sister Joyce Cross and husband Floyd of Keifer and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral service celebrating LaVonne’s life will be held on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel in Okmulgee with Reverend John Wesley Berry officiating. Interment will follow at the Okmulgee Cemetery. Friends may view LaVonne at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home on Sunday from 1-6 PM.
