David Wayne Cunningham's Obituary
David Wayne Cunningham, 70 passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 in Tulsa surrounded by his family. David was born to the late P.W. and Ozelle (Smith) Cunningham on Tuesday, December 3, 1946 in Henryetta, Oklahoma.
David was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the United States Army. He had a passion for his job as a social worker and worked for the Okmulgee Department of Human Services until his retirement. David was amazing at helping so many people in various ways and always giving 110% with everything he did for them. His second passion was running, participating in multiple 5K races in Tulsa. David enjoyed biking and going down to the Y.M.C.A. to play racket ball. He has always loved horses. David attended the Asbury United Methodist Church in Tulsa.
Preceding him in death are his parents and brother, Paul Cunningham. Left to cherish all of the great memories of David is his wife Jennifer Cunningham of Bixby, sons Jason Cunningham and wife Leslie of New Castle, Oklahoma, Drew Cunningham of McKinney, Texas, Ben Cunningham of Weleetka, Oklahoma, daughter Beth Young and husband Jack of Sparks, Oklahoma, a step-daughter, Becky Fox of Catoosa, Oklahoma, grandchildren Alexis, Kambri, Emma, Paisley, Jace, Cohen, Aiden, Sophie, Brant, Emmett, Roper, Cash, and Harlee, brothers Don Cunningham and wife Cathey of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Jimmy Cunningham and wife Diana of Henryetta, and nephews William Cunningham of Oklahoma City and Paul Cunningham of Henryetta. A funeral service for David will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at the First Assembly of God Church in Okmulgee with Minister Diane Twist officiating. Interment will follow at the Morris Cemetery. Friend may visit the funeral home Monday, October 16, 2017 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with family will be present between 5:00-7:00 P.M. to receive friends. Pallbearers will be Jason Cunningham, Drew Cunningham, Ben Cunningham, Jack Young, Tom Sullick and Jim Godfrey. Honorary Pallbearers will be Don Cunningham, Jimmy Cunningham, Paul Cunningham, and William Cunningham. Arrangements have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
