Clara Crutchmer's Obituary
Clara Mozelle Crutchmer, 90, of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, entered her eternal home, Monday, January 6, 2014. She was born on June 19, 1923, in Rosebud, Texas. She married the love of her life, the late Vernon T. Crutchmer, in Okmulgee and resided there most of her life. She was an exceptional and very special wife, mother, “Nanaw”, and friend to her family and countless friends. She worked for many years at JC Penney’s and CR Anthony’s sharing her kindhearted nature and always present smile with everyone she met. As a teenager, she was an accomplished athlete, competing in various sporting events, including the National Amateur Basketball Tournament. As a young wife, she endured a world war and began a family with her husband. Later, she became a fixture at educational and athletic events, always in support of her three sons. Her life was well lived, she was loved by family and friends and she will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Larry Crutchmer. She is survived by her two sons, Steve Crutchmer of Okmulgee, and his wife, Julia; and Clyde Crutchmer of Tulsa, and his wife, Colleen. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kevin Crutchmer, and his wife, Tina, of Tulsa; Amy Washington of Lawton; Matt Crutchmer, and his wife, Arianne, of Shoreview, Minnesota; Josh Crutchmer of Buffalo, New York; Wes Crutchmer, and his wife, Allison, of Red Wing, Minnesota; and Callie Crutchmer of Tulsa. She has eleven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in Clara’s name to the First Christian Church of Okmulgee.
Arrangements are with McClendon-Winters Funeral Home. Service will be held at the First Christian Church, Okmulgee, at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014. Viewing will be at the funeral home on Friday, January 10, 2014 from 12-8 p.m.
