Charles Cargill's Obituary
Charles Arthur Cargill, 89, longtime resident of Okmulgee died in Okmulgee on Tuesday, October 16, 2012. He was born in Sasakwa, Oklahoma on December 9, 1922 to George Washington and Jennie Cleo (Woodburn) Cargill. He married the love of his life Grace “Maxine” Daniels on October 17, 1947. Charles was a veteran of the Army and the Navy. Before retirement he was a glass worker. He was very active member of the Grand Avenue Church of Christ. Charles will be remembered as an “Avid Gardner” and a “Bar-B-Q Expert”. All who knew him loved him.
He was preceded in death by three sisters: Cora Jones, Clara Eisenhour and Lola Heim, two brothers: Hubert Cargill and Keller Cargill, and his parents.
Survivors include his wife Maxine of the home, son; Michael and his wife Patricia Cargill of Stillwell, OK, two daughters; Kathleen and her husband Gary Moors of Eufaula, OK, Patricia and her husband Phillip Habeger of Tulsa, OK, grandchildren: Michael Nickell, Angela Nickell, Cara Cargill, Michael Charles Cargill, Cate Lyn Cargill, Daniel Patrick Cargill and Alison Habeger, great grandchildren; Zoe Grace Goodman, Micah Nickell, Killian McGrew and Keenan McGrew and one sister Erma Van Nest of Texas. He is also survived by Kenny and Donna Wilson, Doris Nickell and Monroe Nickell, numerous nieces, nephews, relative and friends.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, October 20, 2012, 10:00 AM, at the Grand Avenue Church of Christ with Ralph Baldwin officiating. Viewing will be on Thursday and Friday from 10 am until 8 pm at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Kenny Wilson, Bob Howard, Monroe Nickell, and grandsons; Daniel Cargill, Michael C. Cargill and Michael Nickell. The family requests memorial donations are made his name to Operation Smile, 41 Madison Ave., New York, NY 10010.
