Betty Earlene Roberds' Obituary
Betty Earlene Roberds, longtime resident of Preston, OK, passed from this life early Christmas morning, 2018 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Betty was born January 1, 1933 in Lake County (Philippi), Tennessee to the late Bruce Benton Mathis and Marrean Henderson Mathis. She married the love of her life, Frank Brewster Roberds in 1951 and together they raised three children. Betty was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, sewing, and reading. She and her husband Frank ran Frank’s Phillips 66 Filling Station in Okmulgee for many years. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: James Ellis Mathis and Jessie Bruce Mathis, and one sister: Lydia Gerlene Mathis-Henderson.
She is survived by her children: Frank B Roberds, Jr and wife Julie of Preston, OK; Cheryl Roberds-Story and husband Donny of Fayetteville, AR; and Tonja Roberds-Holcomb and husband Thad of Kellyville, OK. Sisters Flossie (Don) Cole, Cadiz, KY; Marine (Tom) McKemie, Galesburg, IL; Emmer Jean Bell, Springfield, IL; and Sue (Wayford) Hinton, Tulsa OK. Brothers Billy (Cindy) Mathis, Hopkinsville, KY; and Kenneth (Glenda) Mathis, Fulton, KY. Also surviving are, grandchildren Mandy (Nick) Flanary, Okmulgee, OK; Jay Roberds, Kiefer, OK, Tyler (Brittany) Roberds, Preston, OK; Rachel (Forrest) Austin, Oklahoma City, OK, Jeremy (Jennifer) Story, Fayetteville, AR; Kyle ( Laura) Story, Fayetteville, AR; Treycer Holcomb & Teyte Holcomb, Kellyville, OK; as well as great-grand children Claire, Ella, & Jack Flanary, Harper, Coraline, and Everly Roberds, Hannah and Hayley Story, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Services for Betty will be held 10:00 am. Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Okmulgee First Free Will Baptist Church, located at 11th and Oklahoma with Pastor's Doyle Baker and Bill Sagely officiating. Interment will follow at the Okmulgee Cemetery. Friends may visit the funeral home on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The family will be present to receive guest from 5:00- 7:00 pm at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel in Okmulgee. Pall bearers will be Jay Roberds, Tyler Roberds, Jeremy Story, Kyle Story, Treycer Holcomb, Teyte Holcomb. Arrangements have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
