Betty Lou Brown's Obituary
Betty Lou (Tollison) Brown was born Wednesday, February 21, 1934 in Okmulgee to the late George Washington Tollison and Anna Tollison.
Betty passed away with her family by her side on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was eighty-eight years of age.
She graduated from Okmulgee High School and had a long career at George Nigh Rehabilitation Center before her retirement. She married Lester Brown on January 19, 1957 in Boynton, Oklahoma. He preceded her in passing on December 25, 1992. Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church of Okmulgee. She taught Sunday School and was active in P.T.A. when her children were young. Betty loved Elvis and was an avid University of Oklahoma fan. She was a talented artist and enjoyed traveling to Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Betty enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with her beloved family. She would often be heard saying “her family was her life”. She will be remembered for being a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Betty was preceded in death by her father, George Tollison, mother, Anna Tollison, step-mother, Elma Tollison and a brother, George Tollison.
Survivors include her children, Pam Clawson and husband Mark, Steve Brown and wife Peggy, Gaylene Self and husband Kelvin and Kim Pitchford and husband Robert, grandchildren, Brandon Brown, Bradley Brown, Jessica Branch, Danny Crawford, Katie Crawford, Brittany Clawson, Tori Clawson, Alex Pitchford and Ryan Pitchford, great grandchildren, Evelyn Brown, Hannah Brown, Charlotte Brown, Olivia Brown and Crew Branch, brothers, Jerry Tollison and John Tollison and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M.
A graveside service will be held 9:30 A.M., Saturday, July 16, 2022 at the Okmulgee Cemetery with Dr. Dennis Taylor officiating.
