Bertha Lee Edmonds' Obituary
Bertha Lee (Perry) Edmonds died in Tulsa on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 91 years of age. Bertha was born on December 16, 1919 in Harrison, Arkansas to Moses Dow and Wadie Ann (Golding) Perry. On July 13, 1935 she married Granville V. Edmonds in Seminole, Oklahoma. In the 1960’s they owned the Morris Café. Bertha retired as Ward Clerk of the Okmulgee Memorial Hospital after 20 years. Bertha was a hard worker. She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Morris, Oklahoma, the Eastern Star and the Morris Senior Citizen Center.
Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, Granville, on February 1, 1988 and a son, Don E. Edmonds on October 2, 2004.
She is survived by two daughters: Phyllis Shoemake and husband Max of Morris, Linda June Hildebrandt and husband David of Broken Arrow, daughter-in-law Marjorie Edmonds of Morris, seven grandchildren: Don V. Edmonds, Lisa Casselman, Debra Pierce and husband Jim, Kristy Huckabee and husband Willie, Kevin Shoemake and wife Nancy, Scott Lee Hildebrandt and wife Cheryl and Cindy Nelson and husband Scott, eighteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend Richard Kerr officiating. Honorary casket bearers are Bertha’s grandsons: Don, Scott, Kevin, Chuck, Jim, and Willie. Friends may view Bertha at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel in Morris on Friday from 2:00-8:00 P.M. with the family present to greet guests from 6:00-8:00 P.M. The family requests memorial contributions be made to The Gideons or the Morris Senior Citizen Center 918-733-4655.
