Anna Marie Riker's Obituary
Anna (Ann) Marie Riker, 83, of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Passed away on December 1, 2012 at Grace House in Henryetta, Oklahoma. Anna was born November 16, 1929 in Enid, Oklahoma to Anna Maud (Price) and Thomas Wright Foster.
She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer Wayne Riker, parents Thomas Wright and Anna Maud Foster, and a brother Charles Foster.
She is survived by her son Lee Riker and wife Sharon of Okmulgee, daughter Barbara Maxwell of Edmond, Oklahoma, grandson Captain Josh Riker and wife Julie of Bossier City, Louisiana, Grandson Brett Riker of Okmulgee, sisters Betty Martin of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Shirley Busby, Bixby Oklahoma, brother Phil Foster and wife Marilyn of Coffeyville, Kansas and many nieces and nephews.
Anna took secretarial classes at night at Okmulgee High, and worked 16 years and retired from Phoenix Federal Savings & Loan in Okmulgee. After staying at home for a few years she returned to work at Fansher, Stone & Milroy in Okmulgee where she worked until needing to care for her mother and mother-in-law.
Anna was a member of East Side Assembly of God Church in Okmulgee for a number of years, serving as secretary/treasurer a great deal of that time. She ministered to the deaf from OSU Technical School by interpreting the song service and the sermon and welcomed many of her deaf friends into her home for Sunday dinner and fellowship. She was awarded “Woman of the Year” by East Side Church in 1986 and was presented with a plaque by her pastor, Rev. French. She also was a Sunday school teacher for many of the years she attended East Side.
Later she was a member of Crosstown Church in Okmulgee for several years, serving as treasurer of Women’s Ministries and Sunday school teacher much of the time she was there. She was recognized as Sunday school teacher of the year in 2004 and received a plaque for that honor as well.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at the First Assembly of God Church at 2:00 p.m. with Louise Baldridge and Rev. Raymond Doke officiating. Burial will be in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Brett Riker, Floyd Baldridge, Calvin Baldridge, Mark Baldridge, Philip Wright and Carl Martin. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Perkins of Okmulgee and Captain Josh Riker of Bossier City, Louisiana.
