Wanda Wittman

Wanda Faye Wittman, age 88, of Nuyaka, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her longtime home on the morning of July 9, 2026. Born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, on the 23rd of April,1938, Wanda was the daughter of Dolph and Hettie Hayden. She was raised in Okmulgee alongside her six siblings and carried the values of faith, family, and hard work throughout her life. At just 18 years old, Wanda attended a swimming outing at Boy Scout Lake in Preston, Oklahoma, where she met a young man named Jimmie Wittman. Upon meeting her for the very first time, Jimmie boldly declared that he was going to marry her. Wanda laughed at the thought—but just one week later, the two were married. Their whirlwind romance became a lifelong love story, and they remained devoted to one another until Jimmie's passing on June 25, 2010. Wanda dedicated 20 years of service as an Occupational Therapy Technician at the George Nigh Rehabilitation Center in Okmulgee. She found great fulfillment in helping others and formed many lifelong friendships with her coworkers and patients during her career. A faithful member of Nuyaka Baptist Church, Wanda's greatest joy was always her family. Her home in Nuyaka served as the heart of countless family gatherings, holidays, and celebrations. She delighted in making Christmas magical, ensuring every child in the family received gifts each year. The Fourth of July was never complete without her homemade ice cream and blackberry picking—cherished traditions that created memories for generations. Her home was a place where everyone was welcomed, loved, and reminded of the importance of family. During her 88 years of life, Wanda was blessed with a family legacy that grew to include 88 descendants: six children, twenty-one grandchildren, fifty-three great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She also rejoins in Heaven four precious great-grandchildren who preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jimmie Wittman; her son, Ronnie Wittman; her parents, Dolph and Hettie Hayden; and five siblings, Amos Hayden, Dewayne Hayden, Idamae Vaughn, Helen Rice, and Evelyn Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Suzy Neal and husband John Neal Sr.; her sons, Tommy Wittman, Billy Wittman, Terry Wittman and wife Robin Wittman, and Jimmy Wittman Jr.; her sister, Betty Lester; twenty-one grandchildren; fifty-three great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. Wanda will be remembered for her quiet strength, servant's heart, steadfast faith, and the unconditional love she poured into every generation of her family. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on through the family she cherished and the countless lives she touched. Viewing for Wanda will be from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Sunday, July 12, 2026, at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM, Monday, July 13, 2026, at Nuyaka Baptist Church.
